A Balanced Federal Budget
What is good for the individual is good for the country. If an individual must live within his or her means, then common sense tells us that the government must not spend more than it takes in. The federal government must have a balanced budget.
I will work to eliminate the federal deficit for the prosperity and peace of mind of the American people.
Education
Imagine our youth, the future of our country. They are bright and eager. They deserve the finest education possible. The best people to make decisions on how to educate our children are parents, teachers, and local administrators.
I will work to restore the decision making for educating our youth to the people of Utah.
Immigration
We must stem the tide of illegal immigrants. We must secure our borders.
Individuals and families who immigrate to the United States must do so in a law-abiding manner. They should become productive members of our society, learn our language, contribute to our communities and obey the laws.
I will work to secure our nations borders and enact strong reforms to stop illegal immigration.
Energy
We use energy in every facet of our lives. Our lifestyle revolves around the use of energy. We must have affordable, clean, and efficient energy in order to keep our economy prosperous. The United States still holds vast untapped reserves of natural gas, oil, tar sands, oil shale and coal. We must use these resources to acquire energy independence while protecting the environment. At the same time we need to aggressively invest in alternative renewable and economically feasible energy sources.
I will work for affordable, clean and efficient energy and to free ourselves forever from energy dependence on foreign nations.
National Security
Al Qaeda has been telling the Islamic world that the Soviet Union collapsed because Al Qaeda defeated the Soviets in Afghanistan. If the United States leaves Iraq without a peaceful solution, Al Qaeda will boast that they have defeated another super power. Al Qaeda will use this to recruit more radicals to continue terrorist attacks against the United States, our friends and allies, as well as free democracies everywhere.
I will work to support our troops in Iraq and maintain a strong defense for the security of our country.
